Friday, April 24, 2026, at the Arkansas Equestrian Center at the State Fair Rodeo Grounds. Great for the new beginner… and a refresher for those who have done it before!
If you have ever wanted to learn how all those cowboys and cowgirls do these events, come and try them out. Our Rodeo School is geared for the very beginner who has never competed before! Come and learn all about the how-to’s.
This is a great way to learn as it is a stress-free environment. You will be instructed by experienced cowboys and cowgirls, and you can practice your event more than once (time permitting). It is also a great refresher for those who have entered before to get warmed up, practice with the stock, and maybe learn a new technique or two.
A $35 fee will be charged for 3 or more events plus lunch. Two (2) or less individual events are $15 each (no lunch). Instructors will be offered lunch.
Friday, April 24, 2026, Registration and Orientation meeting place: Arkansas Equestrian Center at the Fairgrounds, at the end of the Arena closest to the Arkansas Building.
Registration is at 9:00 am. All students must read and sign the “Participation and Waiver of Liability” form. A Safety brief will be given with each event. Once orientation is complete, you are free to come and learn about your event at the following times.
Students may pre-register with Daniel Brison, DSRATrustee@yahoo.com
With your newly learned rodeo skills, you as a rookie cowboy/cowgirl can still register and enter the DSRA Rodeo in the Rock. This is your chance to become a real rodeo competitor. (Keep in mind that enrolling in the Rodeo School is separate from registering to compete in the actual rodeo).
Please bring or wear the following equipment with you to the Rodeo School:
Optionally, you can bring a long-sleeved shirt (great for the sun or additional protection), a mouthpiece (that’s personal), and/or a hockey helmet. These are strongly suggested but not required.
That’s all you need to get started. DSRA has access to ropes, protective vests, helmets (size permitting), and steer rigging for you to use if you wish – or bring your own. These are strongly suggested but not required.
View all the rules HERE or visit www.IGRA.com
Reading the rules of your event will give you an advantage.
